Sciatica Treatments

Receive effective treatment for your sciatica in Paris or Sulphur Springs, TX, by partnering with Dr. Greg Thompson, Dr. Sean Welborn, and Dr. Brandi Baggett of Chiropractic Associates.

What Is Sciatica?

The underlying cause of sciatica is damage to the sciatic nerve. Damage may be caused by different factors. For instance, a herniated disc positioned next to your sciatic nerve roots may eventually cause damage through compression. A bone spur resulting from osteoarthritis may also pinch your sciatic nerve and cause prolonged irritation.

The main symptom associated with sciatica is chronic pain. Early on, the chronic pain may be localized to your lower back. If you don’t arrange treatment at that point, the burning or shooting pain caused by sciatica may eventually affect your hips and legs, as well. The pain may also reach your calves.

Numbness and tingling sensations are also common sciatica symptoms. You may even experience both of those symptoms simultaneously.

Many folks who have sciatica also experience muscle weakness. Certain parts of your lower body may not function properly because your sciatic nerve is compromised. The muscle weakness in your legs may also affect your ability to walk.

Severe cases of sciatica can also affect bowel and bladder functions.

Work with Dr. Thompson, Dr. Welborn, and Dr. Baggett of Chiropractic Associates so you can receive effective sciatica treatment in Paris and Sulphur Springs, TX.

How Will Your Chiropractor Treat Your Sciatica?

Since sciatica is an injury typically caused by a herniated disc or other tissue pinching your sciatic nerve, any proposed treatment should address those issues. Chiropractic techniques can do that.

Your chiropractor can use chiropractic adjustments to realign your spine and alleviate the pressure on your sciatic nerve. Those adjustments can also help by treating osteoarthritis and preventing the development of more bone spurs.

Spinal decompression is another treatment method that can be used to address sciatica. It can help by repositioning the herniated disc responsible for your discomfort.
